PRAYER
Drawing Near to Our Father
Prayer โ Tefillah ยท ๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค ยท teh-fee-LAH โ is more than words spoken. It is fellowship with God, a relationship rooted in faith, humility, thanksgiving, trust, and surrender.
Through Jesus Christ โ Yahushua HaMashiach โ we have access to the Father. The Holy Spirit leads and helps us as we seek Him.
Not Our Will, but His Will. Not Our Glory, but His Glory.
“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.”
James 4:8 โ KJVPRAYER BEGINS WITH GOD
Prayer begins by recognizing who God is โ the one true Creator, our Father, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Before bringing our requests, burdens, struggles, or needs before Him, we seek to acknowledge His holiness, His sovereignty, His goodness, and His faithfulness.
Our Heavenly Father already knows what we need before we ask Him. Yet He invites His children to seek Him and draw near to Him through prayer.
When Jesus Christ taught His disciples to pray, He gave them a model that begins with the Father, His holiness, His Kingdom, and His will.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power,
and the glory,
for ever. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer reveals the importance of honoring our Father, submitting to His will, trusting Him for provision, seeking forgiveness, forgiving others, and depending upon Him for protection and deliverance.
It reminds us that prayer is not centered upon ourselves, but upon God, His Kingdom, His righteousness, and His glory.
LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit โ Ruach HaQodesh ยท ๐ค๐ค ๐ค ๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค โ helps us in prayer.
There are moments when we do not know what to pray, what to ask, or how to express what is upon our hearts.
Scripture teaches that the Spirit helps our infirmities and intercedes according to the will of God.
“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
Romans 8:26 โ KJV“And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”
Romans 8:27 โ KJVPrayer is not about finding impressive words or following a perfect formula. It is coming before the Father sincerely, allowing His Word to shape our hearts and the Holy Spirit to guide us toward His will.
As we grow deeper in our relationship with Him, we learn to listen, trust, surrender, and respond in obedience.
COMING BEFORE HIM WITH THANKSGIVING
Thanksgiving is not limited to moments when life is comfortable or when prayers are answered according to our expectations.
We give thanks because God is worthy of our praise, honor, and worship in every season.
Even in hardship, uncertainty, correction, and waiting, we can acknowledge His faithfulness and trust His purpose.
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18 โ KJV“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.”
Psalm 100:4 โ KJVThanksgiving in Every Season. Trust in Every Circumstance. Glory to God in All Things.
PRAYER, SURRENDER & OBEDIENCE
Prayer is not simply asking God to accomplish what we desire.
It is also surrendering ourselves to His will, seeking His wisdom, and allowing Him to correct, strengthen, and transform us.
Sometimes prayer leads us into waiting. Sometimes it leads us to repentance. Sometimes it requires us to step forward in faith and obedience.
Jesus Christ demonstrated complete surrender to the Father, even in the midst of suffering.
“Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.”
Luke 22:42 โ KJVAs His children, we desire hearts that are not only willing to speak to Him, but also willing to follow wherever He leads.
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
James 1:22 โ KJVPRAYING FOR ONE ANOTHER
As members of one Body under Jesus Christ, we are called to care for one another, bear one another’s burdens, and pray for one another.
Prayer reaches beyond our individual lives, our families, our local congregations, and our communities.
We can bring before the Father the needs of His children across nations, cultures, languages, and denominations.
We pray for those who are hurting, those who are searching, those who are struggling, those who are serving, and those who need strength, wisdom, correction, or encouragement.
“Pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
James 5:16 โ KJV“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”
Galatians 6:2 โ KJVPRAYER ACROSS THE BODY OF CHRIST
As we seek the Father and pray for one another, these are some of the needs we desire to bring before Him.
THE BODY OF CHRIST
For unity, oneness, humility, truth, love, and obedience among His children.
PASTORS & LEADERS
For wisdom, discernment, faithfulness, courage, and a willingness to shepherd according to God’s Word.
FAMILIES & RELATIONSHIPS
For reconciliation, forgiveness, healing, patience, and Christ-centered love.
THOSE WHO ARE SUFFERING
For comfort, provision, strength, peace, and encouragement through hardship.
MISSIONARIES & EVANGELISM
For open doors, boldness in sharing the Gospel, protection, provision, and obedience to God’s direction.
THE NATIONS
For the Gospel to reach the unheard, for truth to be received, and for His children to grow deeper in Him.
PRAY WITHOUT CEASING
Prayer is not confined to a building, a scheduled gathering, or a particular time of day.
Whether traveling, working, resting, serving others, or walking through the ordinary moments of life, we can continually turn our hearts toward God.
We desire to remain in fellowship with Him, seeking His will, giving thanks, and listening for His guidance.
“Pray without ceasing.”
1 Thessalonians 5:17 โ KJVA Life of Prayer. A Heart of Surrender. A Walk of Obedience.
HOW CAN WE PRAY FOR YOU?
At Hope at the Table Ministries, we believe every story matters, and every person deserves to be heard with compassion, respect, and love.
If you have a prayer request, a burden upon your heart, or a situation in which you are seeking the Father, you are welcome to reach out.
We desire to listen, encourage, and pray alongside others, always pointing one another toward Jesus Christ and the truth of His Word.
You do not have to share more than you are comfortable sharing.
DRAWING NEAR TO HIM
Prayer โ Tefillah ยท ๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค โ is an ongoing expression of our relationship with our Heavenly Father.
As we grow deeper in faith โ Emunah ยท ๐ค๐ค๐ค ๐ค๐ค โ we desire to walk in greater surrender, humility, love, and obedience.
May our prayers not merely seek His blessings, but seek Him above all things.
“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
Jeremiah 33:3 โ KJVHis Will. His Purpose. His Glory.
